THIS DAY.

The session was opened on Thursday morning with devotional exercises, Rev. W. Tinsley leading in prayer. The daily record was read, after which the announcement was made that tho Rev. George Stannard had died during the year. The Revs. Cannell, Fee, Griffin, and Pinfold [ received permission to attend the Conference. The report of the trial sermon preached by the Rev J. G. Chapman, a probationer, and his list of books read during the year were read. The Conf erenc* was recommended to pass him in his year, subject to his written examinations proving satisfactory. On the motion of Rev. J. T. Pinfold, it was resolved that the Conference be requested to take into consideration the advisability of recommending the General Conference to replace in the probationer's course of study Daniel's 'History of Methodism," by Dr Gregory's, Handbook of Scriptural Church Principles, Wesleyan Methodist polity and history. It was resolved that the next district meeting be held at Wanganui in the month of November, 1890. A vote of thanks was passed to the friends who have hospitably entertained the gentlemen attending tho district meeting, and to the chairman for the kind and impartial way in which he has conducted the sessions, and to the secretary, tho assistant secretary, and the reporter. Tho meeting was then closed in the usual way.
