WESTERN AUSTRALIAN LOAN.
London, July 24. Tenders for a Western Australian loan of £100,000 at 4 per cent., with the minimum at £107 10s, were opened to-day. Tho loan was successfully floated at an average of £108 15s. POSTAL CARD 3 FOU AUSTRALIA. Mr Cecil Raikes, PostmasterGeneral, will shortly issne a number of threepenny post cards, ohiefly for Australia. ENTERTAINING THE SHAH. The Earl of Hopetown has entertained the Shah of Persia at his estate in Linlithgowshire. COLLECTION OF PICTURES FOR NEW ZEALAND. A fine collection of British pictures will be shipped by the R.Vi.S. Rimutaka for exhibition at the New Zealand Exhibition. INDIAN VOLUNTEER* FOR IMPERIAL DEFENCE. Calcutta, July 24. The Indian native States will contribute 30,000 troops for Imperial defence, principally cavalry. EMIN BEY BEING DESEKTED. Zanzibar, July 24. An important dervish -who reached here states that Emm Bey is being deserted by his British followers, also that his other adherents are wavering in the support.
