St. MARY'S SUNDAY SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT.
A musical and literary entertainment, ia aid of the school fund, was held in Bt. Mary's Sunday school on Friday night, and was well attended, the receipts, at the modest prices charged, amounting to £6 ss. The programme, a well eelecte'd one, had in it a zither solo, played by Mr Laohenmeyer, a Swiss, residing in the Carrington Road District. The instrument is a string one, harm* the strings drawa over the frame, which is placed flat on the table, and tbe performer manipulates tho strings with both hands. Mr. Laohenmeycr's playing was muoh appreciated. The whole bill of items* was as under : — Pianoforte solo, Miss F. Smith ; recitation, Miss Cliff ; obildren'a chorus, "Good News from Home," the soloists being Misses G. and L. George; sons, Mrs Robinson ; trio, " Three Old Maids of Lee," in character, Misses Devenish, Webster, and Ferens, (he dresses being so made that by turning round the characters were appropriately attired to sing « The Three Young Maids of Lee;" reading, " The Grandmother," Arohdeason Govott; song, "Old and New," Mr Owen; song, "It makes one awfully wild," Mr Churtoo, who on being encored gave "Two Black Eyes;" zither solo, Mr Lachenmeyer; violin duet, Misses Furlong; reading, "Old Folks," Miss Montgomery; vocal duet, " Winifred," Misa Hamerton ; song, "Constanoe," Miss Yates ; wax works show, Mr S. Shaw being showman, and^ Messrs Thompson, Webster, S. Horn* phriep, and others being characters ; children's chorus, "Happy are we tonight," the Boloists being Misses M. Crawford and 0. Rickerbv. Mr Garry, and Misees Wild man, Webster, and Hamerton played the accompaniments.
