IN view 'of the kindly response made by Teachers and Children throughout New Zealand to our appeal on behalf of the Starving Little Ones at Home, we purpose to ask the Teachers to make an effort Annually to Collect a Few Pence in their Fchools for the same purpose. The £51 6ent Home was acknowledged by the London School Board in the following manner :-*- "At a meeting of the Board, April " 28th, Mr. Diggle (Chairman) proposed " that the Chairman make it known, " through the Lord Mayor, the pleasure " with which the Board have heard of " the kindly and generous interest which " tbe Schools in New Zealand have tnken "in tha welfare of the pooiest of the " children in London, and in thanking " them for the same, to express the hope " that scch acts of sympathy on the part " of the children in the Colonies towards "children at Home may strengthen "those tie 3of common interest and " mutual good will which are binding " into closer union the distant Colonies " and the Mother Country t Dr. Glad- " stone seconded the motion, and it was " agreed to unanimously." We have £18 on hand from tho subscriptions of last year. Any Teachers desiring circulars could receive them by applying by post card. We would ask those Teachers of large schools who do not quite agree with our purpose, to kindly abstain from influencing advetßely their subordinates. We only ask ONE PENNY from each child.
