PARCEL POST SERVICE.

The Parcels Post will come into force on Ist October. The rateß of postage for a parcel are : — Not exceeding lib. in weight, 7d. ; not exceeding 21bs., 10d.; 31bs., Is. Id.; 41bs., Is. 4d.;'slbs., Is. 7d.; 61bs., Is. 10d.; 71bs., 2s. Id.; 81bs., 2s. 4d.; 91bs., 2s. 7d.; lOlbs., 2s. 10d.; lllbs., 3s. Id. No parcel exceeding lllbs. in weight, or the dimensions hereafter specified, will be accepted ; and unpaid or insufficiently prepaid parcels will be refused. The dimensions allowed for a parcel are: — Greatest length, 3ft. Gin.; greatest length and girth combined, 6 ft. For example : A parcel measuring 3 ft. Gin. in length may measure as much as 2ft. Gin. in girth. A shorter parcel may be thicker ; thus, i£ it measure only 3£t. in length, it may be 3ft. in girth round its thickest part. The weights and dimensions given above apply only to parcels for places served by railway, coach, or steamboat. In order that a parcel may go by Parcel Post, it must be handed in at a Post-office counter or delivery window, and the posture due prepaid. The wordß " Parcel Post " should bo written on tho paroel, or on the label to be obtained from the Postolfico for affixing to the parcel.
