Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General of New South Waleß, is forwarding to his Government in Sydney the proposal which has been submitted to him for the extermination of rabbits. NEW HEBRIDES QUESTION. " The Secretary of State for the Colonies, in replying to the protest of the Victorian Agent-General against the encroachments of the New Hebrides Company on the Presbyterian mission of those islands, stated that the matter is reoeiving the attention of the Foreign Secretary. CANADIAN FISHERIES DISPUTE. Replying to a question in the House of Commons to-day, the Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs stated that the United States Government had agreed to the appointment of a new Commission fqr the settlement of the fishery dispute, and Mr. J. Chamberlain will be appointed the prinoipal British Commissioner. London, August 81. The Commission appointed for the settlement of the fishery dispute will oonsist of six members, of whom two are representatives of Canada. Mr. . Chamberlain, chief of the British Commission, will proceed to Canada forthwith. ELECTION OP A CONSERVATIVE. The election to fill a vacancy in the Parliamentary representation for Ramsey, North Huntingdonshire, oaused by the elevation of Mr. W. H. Fellowes to the Peerage, resulted in the election of Mr. Ailwyn Edward Fellqwes, a Conservative, by 2700 votes' against 2400 polled by Mr. Sanders, a supporter of Mr. Gladstone.
