We Uave been requested to state that the timber sale advertised by Mr. Courtney to take place to-morrow has been postponed until further notice.

Tho Cosmopolitan Dioramic Exhibition will open for the last time to-night, when there will be a completo change of ricwa, and an extra number of valuable presents given away, including an electro-plated tea service. We have to acknowledge the receipt of the first number of the New Zealand Pnnoh—a very creditable production issued from the printing ofticc of Mr. Kobcrt Burrctt, of Wellington. It consists of sixteen pages of letterpress, and a two-page oartoou printed on tinted paper. There are several wood engravings illustrating the follies of the day, and which arc Tory spiritedly drawn by Arthur L. Palethorpe. Politically, Punch is evidently a rabid Orcyite. The cartoon represents ft "prize-fighting ring," the two pugilists \»eing Sir George Grey and Sir Wm. Fox. The former is represented as having made a telling stroke and floored his opponent, who is lying on the ground, Mr. Shcehan is acting as Sir George's second, and Bays—" That'll do, George ; I don't think he'll be able to stand aftor that last knock down, although he may try." Sir G. G.— "Yes; that squares off the old score of the memorandumiad."

A steel bell, measuring twenty-four inches in diameter, which has just arrived from IxmdoH to the order of the New Plymouth Fire Brigade, will in a few days be erected in the new tower lately built nenr Messrs. Shuttleworth, Bros., and the bell at present in use will be fixed near the Oddfellows' Hall, when funds will permit. As soon as the new bell has been fixed in the tower, due notice will be given by advertisement of its being ruug for tho first time, so that tho people may not ty> uaucccssarily alarmed..
