BODY OF A CHILD FOUND. OuiusrcHUßCii, September 16. The body of a child, apparently still born, has boon found in the Avon. The body was in a sugar bag 1 , partly filled with stones.
LAUGE LAND SALE. LwEKCARGrLL, September 16. Tho land sale of tho Now Zealand Agricultural Company's sections by Messrs. Bastings, Leary, nnd Co. realised upwards of £100,000. The attendance was largo and tho bidding spirited. MAN ARRESTED FOR ARSON. Dunbdin, Septomber 16. The inquest on tho fire at Rosb' Buildings h further adjourned, and Waters, the proprietor of the premises where tho fire originated, has been arrested ou the charge of arson.
THB LATE FIRE IN DUNEDIN. Dunedin, September 11. At the City Polico Court this morning*, William Waters, alias Walter Olair, and William Wood lock, wore charged with having felouiously and maliciously sot fire to Ross 1 Buildings Octagon on or about tho Bth September. Inspector Mallard applied for a remand, which was grauted, pending the result of the Coroner's inqniry, which will coutinue to-day. Mr. Duniston appeared for the accused.
