Live Stock. — Mr. Freeman Jackson reports that the sales during the past fortnight have passed oil: better than was expected, prices being slightly in favor of the sellers. The rise ho believes to be only temporary, as outside markets, together with an early spring here, cannot warrant any advance in values, on the contrary^ must have a tendency to lower prices ; beef, to ship, leaves no margin of profit judging from the quotations of Auckland and Dunedin, which arc 275. and 255. per 100 lbs. respectively ; an occasional shipment to the West Coast may leave a blight profit, but not sufficient to cover risk ; taking these matters into consideration the inevitable result must be reduction in values here, Tho beef at the yards to-day was generally of inferior quality and prices corresponding ; primo meat had a good market at 225. (id. ; inferior, 20s. the 100 lbs. Store bullocks sold well, especially at Wavcrlcy, where extreme rates were given. .Sheep are iv request at late Tallies, the ewes olfci-cd to-duy being really of good quality, and thoy met with a capital market. Horses are very dull of sale, cveu for good animals. At Waverley 292 head of cattle came forward ; store bullocks, £0 7s. Gd. to £7 55.; heifers, £4 ; cows, &l XQa. j yearlings, £3 12s. fid, to £2 17s,

Sheep— ooo were »fCcrod ; best heavy wethers, 12s. 6d.; others !)s. to 10s. (M. Pigs— store, 7s. to 12s. fid.; porkers. 20s. fid. Horses— good draught, £20 to £32 l()s.; hacks as usual. Export :— l2O head of cattle, and 300 sheep.
