Consumption op Meat in Victoria. — There aro not sufficient sheep and cattle bred in the Colony to supply its own consumption. We draw our chief supplies from Riverinaand Queensland. Our imports over the Murray for 1874 wcro, 785,000 sheep, and 85,000 cattle. There was, however, exported for the same year, 6,758,338 lb. of preserved meat. Data from which to calculate the consumption of tho Colony is supplied by tho fact that Melbourne and suburbs consume weekly 12,000 sheep of 50 lb. each, and 1,000 head of cattle, counting them at 8J cwt. Tho population of Melbourne and suburbs in, in round numbers, 233,000.— Leader,
