WAITARA INSTITUTE.
A general meeting of the members of the Waitara Institute was held in tho schoolroom on the evening of the 27th ultimo, when the Rev. Philip Walsh was called to the chair.
The Secretary (Mr. Cameron) stated the objects for which the meeting had been convened, viz., to elect a Committee for tho remainder of the current year, and to consider tho steps necessary to be taken with regard to appropriation and expenditure of a sum of money which has been voted by the Provincial Council for the purchase of books for the library of the Institute.
Mr. B. C. Lawrence having resigned office on behalf of himself and the other members of the out-going committee, the new committee were elected as follows: — President — Mr. Halso ; Secretary and Treasurer — Mr. J. Cameron; Auditors — Messrs. G. D. Draper and T. Elliot; Committee— Rev. P. Walsh, Messrs. B. C. Lawrence, G. D. Draper, N. Knuckey, and R. Townsend.
The Rev. P. Walsh and Mr. G. D. Draper were requested to make application to the Government for tho sum of money promised to the Institute.
Some minor matters having been disposed of, and a vote of thanks passed to the chairman, the proceedings terminated.
