TYPHOID FEVER IN AUCKLAND. THE GOVERNOR'S TOUR. ROLLESTON ELECTED SUPERINTENDENT OF CANTERBURY. (ANGLO-AUSTRALIAN PRESS TELEGRAM AOEN#Y.) AUCKLAND. March 23. —The Mayor of Auckland stated to-day that typhoid fever is prevalent in Auckland, in consequence of defective sanitary arrangements. H.M.S. ' Blanche' has arrived at Auckland. The ' Luna' leaves for the North Cape this evening. The Junction Hotel at the Thames was destroyed by fire this morning. It was insured for £300 in the Victoria Company. The Governor's yacht 'Daylight'has arrived at Tauranga. t The Governor and party left Taapo on Thursday, the 19th, and visited Alum Cave, Orakei, and Koraka wonders. They camped with the Native Contingent at Niho o Te Keoro, and came on yesterday. Halted at Parekerangi for luncheon. Had a satisfactory meeting with Tuhourangi tribe, and visited the Whakowena geysers, which were very active. Arrived at Ohinemutu at six on Friday night. The Governor inspected school children, and met natives on Saturday. Left for Rotomahana in the afternoon, and may be expected at Tauranga on Thursday. The Governor is to arrive at Tauranga on Thursday, and will leave in his yacht the following morning en route for Auckland.
