The Election of Members to the Piovincial Jouucil is appointed for Friday and Saturday next, the 19tli and 20i.1i nut. The proclamation issued some months sit.c? for regulating the elections, &c directs

Whatever may ho the termination of the appioaclung elections, the one thing most desnab'e is, that all party feeling should be thrown ovetboard, and a plain common sense vii w of the posi'ion and prospects o' the province t.ikcn. Caution and due propriety of pmgrv™ wi 1 no doubt m uk the proceedings of the Council : ill-d'gested, precipitate, or sneeping changes often make reformations mischievous, which, introduced gradually, and after mature consideration, would prove of the most useful character.
