ENTERTAINMENTS.

TEMUKA PICTURES. Doctors the world over are generally unanimous in the opinion that there is nothing so good for a physical or spiritual disability as a good hearty laugh, .and there are plenty of laughs in “The Head of the Family,” the picture to be screened at Temuka to-night. The picture details the trials and tribulations of a- plumber who is hired by a wealthy hen-pecked husband to manage his family during, his absence. That he succeeds is evidenced by the fact that he finally marries the wealthy man’s daughter and puts his house in perfect order. Virginia Lee Corbin is the daughter in the case, William Russell is the he-man who is promoted from plumbing to family managing, and Micky Bennett, Richard Walling! and Aggie Herring make up the rest of the cast. They very deftly contribute a riot of laughs to this entertaining farce. A Gazette, Fox Variety and Comedy comprise the short features to be screened.

GER A LDIN E MUNICI PAL THEATRE. Entertaining and amusing gags and bits of business are sprinkled liberally throughout the continuity of Adolphe Menjou’s latest starring Paramount picture, “Marquis Preferred.” which will be screened at the Geraldine Municipal Theatre tonight. The story of “Marquis Preferred” concerns a bankrupt nobleman who agrees to let his tailor, his valet and his chef find him a wealthy wife. Just as they accomplish this feat, the Marquis falls in love, with a penniless girl, and his efforts to reconcile his love with his promise make up the amusing theme. On Christmas night there will bo shown, “The Gateway of the Moon,” which depicts the building of a railroad through the jungle, and is a vivid and picturesque tale that held the premier audience's fascinated attention from beginning to end. On Thursday, “Blindfold” will be screened. This is a great detective drama.
