TEMUKA BRASS BAND.
Ihe Teiauka Municipal Brass Band is urgently m need oi new uniforms, which wilt enable them to make more iro.|Ueiu public appearances m a manner worthy ot the town and district. At Thursday’s meeting, the Indies interested in the Band unanimously resolved to hotd a baz a ar, and we con-e-ratulato them, upon the promptness with which they have arrived at their decision. The -Mayoress, with her usual regard for public ,objects, is taking an active interest in the imovoJiient, and we believe that under her guidance it will steer to success. The complete success of such a movement, however, depends largely upon the bandsmen themselves, their relatives, and friends. If every relative and friend of the bandsmen, and lovers of band music, make it their business to take a hand there need be no doubt whatever about the result. The citizens will, we believe, give libera! support to so worthy a local object.: It must be borne in mind, however, that bazaars are not new things, and that to make a bazaar of this kind a financial success, novelty competitions, ti:.gs-of-wnr, (■Btertainuraits, and the assistance of other bauds in South Canterbury should not be lost sight of. If the affair is worked carefully, and with a view to Ihe public enjoyment as well as. to the financial aspect, there is no reason why the Tomuka 'Municipal Brass Bund’s 11)IB bazaar should not die one of the most successful in the history of the district. In this, as in other objects of a similar kind, the old axiom “What is worth doing at nil, is worth doing well,” should bo kept steadily in view.
