The same firm also sold a set of harrows for Mi R. Hughes for £2 2s Gd, the proceeds to go towards the Patriotic Fund.

At Clinton on Wednesday morning, before a Bench of Justices, Dewars, postal cadet, w r as committed for trial on three charges of stealing letters. A man named Stewart Hamilton was killed at the Waikaroraoana co-operative works ou Monday by a fall of rocks. A fellow workman saw the rock slipping and jumped aside, calling to Hamilton at the same time, hut the latter was somewhat deaf and did not at once hear. When he did move he only went down the cutting and a piece of rock struck him on the head, killing him instantly. He was almost covered with rocks. He was aged 60, and leaves a wife and three children at the works.
