Orari Patriotic Sports.

A men tin" of the Patriotic Sports Committee was held on Monday.night at the Geraldine Hotel. Present —Messrs J. W. Pye (in the chair) E. Y. Ferguson, A. Dunn, A. Bates. W. Quirke. E. Mackenzie, TV. T. Turner, J. Counihan, A. TV. Ensor, A. McLean, and Bracefield. Capain MaoKenzie and Lieut. Montgomery were authorised to make arrangements for material for military events, and the secretary was instructed to see the president of St. Patrick’s Sports Association re rope for tug of war. The' secretary was also instructed to_ wire away re permit for races, and to write to Mr Crosbie to ask him to act as judge in place of Mr Barker, resigned. The secretary’s action re advertising was approved of. It was resolved to give a prize of 10s for sheep guessing competition, the entrance fee to bo Gd. Mr Pearce was appointed to look after the competition. The offer of Messrs Bateman and O’Neill to look after the outer gates was received with thanks, also the offer of Mr Behrens for grand stand gate, and Mr Coles saddling paddock. Mr B. R. Macdonald was appointed to see that the gate-keepers are in their places on the day of the sports. The secretary was authorised to procure passes for grand stand. It was resolved to ask Mr Stubbs to .be present at the sports to act as treasurer. It was decided to ask St. Patrick’s ay Sports Association for use of flags. Mr Ferguson was appointed supervisor of the sports, and Mr Pye was asked to procure badges for the committee. The secretary was instructed to procure programme cards, showing order of events and handicaps for horse races. Messrs Quirke, A. Bates, and Macdonald, were selected as handicappers of horse races and Messrs Dunn, O’Malley, and McLean of foot races.
