CRICKET.
VISIT OF THE AUSTRALIANS. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council at Christchurch it was stated that tho tour of the Australian team in New Zealand will last about six weeks. A committee was appointed to draw up a programme and submitted two, tho only difference being that either the Nelson or Wanganui match must bo abanfioned. The first programme via Wanganui, is as follows; —Play Auckland on February 15th, 10th and 17th; AVangahui February 21st and 22nd; AA r ellington, February 24th, 2Gth and 27th; Canterbury, March 2nd, 3rd and sth ; Otago, March 9th, loth and 12th; New Zealand, at Christchurch, March 15th, IGth and 17th, leaving by the steamer at the close of the match. Second programme, via Nelson: —Play Auckland on February 15th, 16th and 17th; AVelliugton, February 22nd, 23rdaud24th; Nelson, February 2(ith, 27th and 2Sth; Canterbury, MarchSrd, sth and Gth ; Otago and New Lew Zealand, as arranged in the first programme. Tho report was adopted, and it was decided to forward it to the Melbourne team, in order to choose which programme it thought best. The Council, by 6 to 4, decided to have tho New Zealand team chosen by one selector.
