PORT OF TIMARU. AREITED. Jan. 27—Timaru, ship, Culbert, from tjio Bluff. IN HARBOR. Ship—lnvercargill. Barque—Andes. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Obau, s.a., to-day. Corinna, s.s., on Monday. Aotea, a.s., on 31st. Christchurch, Jan. 2G. —The steamer Waikato arrived unexpectedly-at Lyttelton this morning. Just as she was leaving Oamaru yesterday for Timaru she bumped heavily twice, and it was decided to bring her on to Lyttelton for examination. She was docked this afternoon, and a survey was made. The damage was not extensive, three bolts amidships being lost. The Waikato will probably proceed to Timaru to-morrow. O amartt, Jan. 27. —In reference to the bumping of the Waikato yesterday, the harbormaster reports that It must have occurred outside, as when the pilot, who took the steamer out, left her, no such incident had happened. Port Chalmers, Jan. 26. —Arrived : Otarama, Captain Clifford, from London (December Ist), with 3300 tons of cargo for Dunedin, 1000 for Lyttelton. At 7 a.m. on January 21st she sighted the steamer Pakeha, from Loudon for Auckland. Invercargill, January 26.—Captain McDonald of the tug Awarua, which arrived at the Bluff from Dunedin, states that when about eight miles to the south of Cape Saunders he passed a large fnllrigged ship, which was probably the Timaru. She stood about six miles off.^ Hobart, Jan. 26.—Arrived: Rakaia last night.
