THE COREAN TROUBLE.

Shanghai, Jan. 21. The Japanese warships bombarded and captured Luugchew Foo, a fortified city forty miles from Chefoo. Pekin officials are regaining confidence owing to the sufferings of the Japanese in Manchuria through the severity of tho winter. 1 here has beeu a good deal of sickness in thtnr army from want of supplies. The departure of Chinese envoys to Tokio to negoitiate for peace has been delayed in consequence. Twelve thousand Chinese attacked tho Japanese in the vicinity of New Chang. Tho excellent firing of tho Japanese artillery threw the Chinese into collision, and fellowing up their success with a great charge the Japanese produced a completo rout. The Chinese lost 90J, and tho Japanese from 40 to 50. Japanese vessels have landed a force at Yangtchaug, on tho Shanghai promontory, aud it is now within thirty miles of Weihaiwei. British, American, German and French bluejackets have been landed at Chefoo from their respective war vessels, in order to protect tho Consulates. This was taken as a precautionary measure. Jan. 25. The Japanese occupied Minghai, between Chefoo and Weihaiwei, without opposition. The Japanese effected a landing at Miuchwang under cover of a snowstorm. The whole of tho Chinose northern fleet is entrappod in Weihaiwei, but the Chinese declare that the garrison is able to withstand a prolonged attack. Jan. 20. The Japanese forces have again repulsed the Chinese at Kaaiching, killing one hundred. Berlin, Jan. 24. Germany and Japan are negotiating for a commercial treaty.
