London, March 25. The cotton operatives have submitted to a reduction of 7d in the £, and will resume work on Monday. It is estimated that the cotton strike caused the loss of £2,000,000, including £1,000,000 in wages. An elaborate scheme has been adopted for the settlement of future disputes. New York, March 25. A Judge in New Orleans has decided that the action of labor organisations in ordering a general strike is unlawful, and that merchants and others were entitled to obtain an injunction in the matter. The Canterbury Assemblies of the Knights of Labor and the Christchurch Bootmakers' Union are agitating for the Government to bring in an Amended Municipal Corporations Act giving an extension of local governing powers to the people and providing for the extension of the one-man-one-vote principle to municipal elections. They have also decided to support the proposal to start a newspaper in the interest of labor.
