The announcement that the Indian Government will shortly put a loan of 30.000. rupees on the market has depressed the silver market. At a meeting of the shareholders of the Australian and New Zealand Mortgage Company (Limited), Mr A. Flower, the chairman, said that the company had not suffered by the Queensland floods, nor by the depression in Australia. The dividend, however, had been reduced to 7 per cent. Measures were being taken to renew the company’s debentures at the lowest rate of interest, and they had bright hopes of the future. Messrs Murray and Ricards were re-elected directors. March 22. The Achilles Goldfield Company of New Zealand has been registered, with a capital of £IOO,OOO.
