MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Mount Peel Road Board was held at their office on Friday last. Present Messrs C. G. Tripp, G. J. Dennistoun, K. Thew, and R. Mackay. Letters were read—

From Mr F. Newman, asking for some posts to repair the fence of a reserve.— The request was granted. From Mr J. D. Acland, asking for leave of absence.

From Mr Eugene Loi’gelly, asking for a few loads of gravel to put on his road. —Granted.

Prom the Commissioner of Lands, advising the board to borrow the money required to form roads in Arundel Village Settlement.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Colouial Secretary on the matter.

From the Geraldine County Council, asking for the first moiety of the Timaru Harbor Board rate, £lsl 3s 3d. —The board decided that as the yearly accounts were to bo made up on the 31st this payment should be held over till next board day. From the Commissioner of Taxes, asking for information as to names on the rolls.,

From Mr Donald McDonald, asking the board to substitute Messrs Dixon Bros.’ names on the roll for his, he having leased his land to them.

From the Geraldine County Council, asking for list of added names to the roll. —The clerk was instructed to attend to the matter.

From the Union Bank of Australia, acknowledging the receipt of £6 19s. From the Geraldiue Road Board, enclosing a cheque for £lO Is, being half the cost of repairs to boundary road.

It was resolved that the clerk advertise the travelling hut for sale, or exchange for a smaller one ; that the rates unpaid on the 31st March be sued for; that tenders be called for forming the extension of Shaw’s road, and for erecting a trestle footbridge over the South Opuha river; that the clerk obtain 50 black-birch planks ; that the overseer inspect the road up Black Birch creek with Mr Tripp, and report on the work required. Accounts amounting to £9O 0s 2d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated. •
