QUEENSLAND RELIEF FUND COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the above was held in tho Town Board Office on Wednesday afternoon last. Present —Messrs J. Blyth (chairman), Dignan, Herbert and E. Pilbrow (secretary). The chairman explained that he had invited them to attend to decide what steps should be taken to dispose of tho balance in hand, as he thought it would be advisable to settle up as soon as possible and despatch the balance in cash. He stated that the total receipts in cash up to date were £133; of this a bank draft for £7O had been forwarded to Brisbane, leaving a balance in hand of £63, which had all been banked excepting 12s 6d. There was a sum of 4s 2d to receive from Mr Elijah Brown, and 3 sacks of old wheat in the hands of the chairman, which he thought would be preferable if converted into cash. Against these items there were expenses incurred in postage stamps, telegrams, &c., 10s Id, and something owing for advertising and printing, account of which was not yet to hand. It was proposed by Mr Herbert, seconded by Mr Dignan, and carried—- “ That the three sacks of wheat in hand be sold, and balance in cash despatched at earliest convenience.”

A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the chairman and secretary for their energetic services, and the meeting then terminated.
