TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It is quite obvious that one of the members of tbe Temuka Fire Brigade is a siogle man, or he woojd not be so rough \yith a child. Yesterday week daring ladder practice (where one has to rush up a ladder «pd bring down a " baby " found lying on a platform) the aforementioned member, the heayiesi man in tbe Brigade, on reaching the platform, fell flat or the " baby." This, no doubt, was done to prevent the " infant" from struggling on the journey down, but If»ocy a grief-stricken mother would not be much comforted at having only the crushed remains cf her child restqred, to He*?:, wheq,"wUn oqly a little mora inconvenience to the nob'e fireman, the child might have been handed over safe and sound.
