THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

London, May 5. At yesterday's sitting of the Conference, the subject of f?tate-aided colonisation was discussed. May 7 With reference to the naval defence of Australia the draft for carrying out the decision which hud been arrived at by the Conference, was agreed to. Regarding the proposed Pacific cable the gene'al opinion of the delegates was favorable io the prospects of success. During the discussion on the New Hebridges question Mr Service alluded to the statement made by Le Temps to the eft ot that M. Waddington proposed en Anglo-French Naval Commission be appoiuted for the protection of the group. Mr Service dec'ared that whatever police force the French should have in the Islands the Australian colonies would insist on having an English force of exactly the same strength, No arrangement would satisfy the colonies which should leave the French dominant in the New Hebrides. It is expected that Sir Henry Holland will make a statement on the subject at Monday's meeting of the Conference. With regard to the Qunen's adopting a title in connection with the colonies, the question was left for the decision of Her Majesty. Sir Henry Holland statttd the matter would soon be introduced in the Imperial Parliament. The delegates presented an address to Sir Henry Holland, congratulating him on the success of the Conference, and his management of its affairs. The delegates expressed themselves as highly satisfied with the manner in which the proceedings had been coaducted. The delegates to the Conference have suggested that the new title to be assumed be the Queen of the Dni":d Kingdom, Great Britain, Ireland, Colonies and Dependencies, ftir J. Lo r in»er and Captain Thomas, Navil Commandant of Victoria, have advised, and the other Victorian delegates have agreed, to adopt the suggestion for five improved vessels of the Archer type and two Rattlesnake torpedo boats,
