CHRISTCHURCH SHOW.

The Metropolitan Show was attended by over 15,000 people on Wednesday. £7lO was taken at the gates. His Excellency the Governor and Sir Julius Vogel were on the ground. The weather was fine, through a strong nor’-wester blew clouds of dust through the streets. The exhibits though 300 fewer than last year, were on the whole up to the average io quality. The merinos, with few exceptions were only .average.. Loogwools and Downs were excellent. The cattle comprised representatives of our best strains of blood. Draught horses ware up to, the average, but light were very poor, figs, a, small entry but of good quality. The show of implements were exceedingly good.. Local manufactures and produce were good, not much in advance ofl asi year. Mr. J. Gilmour’s Kelvin took first and champion prizes for draught entires. Mr John and second for obaqipion brood mares. Bundoora was i|rst of the thoroughbred stallions. Most of the prices for pigs were taken by Mr J. Rowe in Yorkshire, and by Mr,}. Matthew srovyn and E. and T. Clawson in Berkshires. fho Eaiapoj Woollen Co, toojr gold medal for woollen goods, and the Ashburton Co. were awarded a special silver medal. The Temuka Linseed Company took the silver medal

for a collection of ropei and twine. Mr M. Peach took most of the prizes f«r batter, and Messrs C. B, and C. F. Ooidy took most of the prizes for cheese. No prizes were awarded for implements, but several exhibits were highly commended.
