DUNEDIN MARKETS.

Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ending July 9 as follows :

Store Cattle—We have no transactions to report. Store Sheep—There is a demand for crossbred wethers for turnip fattening, but we have no sales to report.

Sheepskins—Dry pelts, 71 to 8d ; do crossbreds, Is 3d to 4s 5d ; do merinos, Is 6d to 4s 5d ; green crossbreds, 2s 5d to 8s 7d ; do merinos, 2s 9d to 3s 5d ; lambskins, li 6d. Hides—-The market has not exhibited any change »ince our last. This week we disposed of 220 at from 3d to 4|<* lor clean sound hides, and 2d to 2|d tor cut rind slippy. Tallow —The market for this product is weak, ani prices ruling lately are not now obtainable, with but littld probability of an immediate recovery. We sold this week 26 casks, good to prime, at 30s ; I0»do medium, 25s to 28s; inferior, up to 23s 6d ; and 35 bags rough fat at 19s to 23* 6d per cwt.

Grain —Wheat : There is no improvement in the market for this grain by way of higher prices, but parcels in good hard milling condition are easily disposed of at late quotations—viz., for prime Telvet and Tuscan, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; red straw and such like, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; medium, 2s 9d to 3s, Fowls' wheat is in fair request, and if well filled, even if soft, is worth 2s 6d to 2s 8d ; broken, thin and frosted, Is to 2s 3d. Oats : The market has lacked animation for the last week, the only demand existing being for bright short feed and milling ; discolored, such as sparrowbills, short Tartarians, etc., are neglected. Holders, however, are not

pushing sales, and last werk's quotations hold good—viz. : Stout" bright milling, 2s Id to 2s 2d ; short bright feed, 2s to 2s Id ; discolored, such as those nnmed above, la lOd to Is lid ; long do, Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley: Plump bright milling is easily placed at 4s' to 48 3d ; medium, 3s 6d to S« 9d ; but thin and discolored is in no demand except for feed, at fr>m Is 6d to 2s ; milling, 2s 6d to 2s 9d.

OHEISTCHDBCH MARKETS. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday, a full. market of sheep, lome excellent quality, met with only a moderate dsmand, and sales were made at rates on a par with latest quotations, a few lines being taken bv graziers. Crossbred wethers sold at 14s 6d to 17s 4d ; crossbred ewes from lis 6d to 16i; and merino wethers, which were in large supply, were dull of sale at from 8s to 10s 6d, and from 2d to per lb, and a skade higher for superior quality, was paid. In the store sheep market little or nothing was offered. The pig market was fairly well filled, the demand showing a slightly easier tone. Bacon pigs sold up to 755, porkers 25s to 37b 6d. The store cattle market was only moderately supplied, and business very stagnant/ A large entry of fat cattle met with a dull saW at late rates, 16s 6d to 18s 6d per 1001 b. Bullocks from L 5 5s to L 8 5s ; heifers from L 4 15s to L 7 7s 6d ; fat cows from L 3 15s to L 6 se.

CffIUSTCHTTRCH COR* EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 11th inst : The week just ending has not been marked by any material alteration either as regards values or demand. Wheat can only be placed in trade parcels or for shipment coastwise, there being an utter absence ot speculation in this grain. Barley is scarcely so well inquired for, although very prime samplesof malting would meet with attention at former rates. Oats are still in active demand, without, however, eliciting an advance in price, the quotations below being full market value. In beans and peas the principal enquiry has been for first class samples of sowing. Several very good lots changed hands at rather better prices than ordinary quotations. Potatoes are attracting a little more attention than was accorded them in the previous week, hut not sufficumt to warrant an alteration in value. Dairy produce maintains former prices with a slightly better inquiry for butter. Quotations as follow :

Wheat—Sound Tuscan, 3s 4d ; pearl, 3s 3d ; punter's, 3s Id to 3s 2d f.0.b.; slightly damp and seconds, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; chicken wheat, Is 9d to 2s. Oats—Best milling, 2s 3d ; bright short feed, 2s 2d to 2s 3d ; interior and long, Is 8d to 2t f.o.b. Barley—Prime malting, 4s ; second quality 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; feed, 2s to 2s 2d in Christchurcb.

Peas—Prussian blues, 3s 3d to 8s 3d ; other sorts, 2s 9d to 3s. Beans—H»nd thrashed, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; for bright seed samples 3s. Potates—2Bs to 30s per ton at stations within 12 miles.

Butter and Cheese—7d to B£d for the former, and 4il to 5d for the latter. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, July 9, The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat, per bushel, 8s lOd to 3s lid, the market fiat and prices drooping ; malting barley, 4s to 4s 6d,,tbe market dull and prices irregular ; New Zealand oats, feeding sorts, firm and in active demand at 2s lid to 3s 2d rnd 3s 3d ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s 3d to 2s 6d. ENGLISH MARKETS. Lojtdon, July 9. .Adelaide wheat, ex store, remains at 40s ; off-coast cargoes are worth 38s. The quotations are nominal. New Zealand wheat, ex store, is at 34s to 40s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 28s. Tallow, Australian, average quality— Beef,' 35s 6d ; mutton, 37«.
