BALL AT OKAIAWA.

FOOTBALL CLUB GATHERING. The Okaiawa hall presented a gay scene on Monday nighty during the football club’s ball. Festoons of maroon and blue streamers, the club colours, radiated from an artistically designed centrepiece. The dark green background of native shrubs was relieved by streamera of green and gold. Messrs. A. Guy and R. Wallis were efficient masters of ceremonies- for the large number of dancers at the gathering. Supper was served by the capable women’s committee. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss D. Hemsley and Mr. M. Green, and a spot waltz by Miss R. Williams and Mr. F. Tilly. Novelty items on the saxophone were given by Mr. S. Gordon and extra dances were played for by Misses Mabel, Guy and B. Seed and Mr. T. Toro.

Among those present were Misses D. Robertson (black chenille velvet and red coatee), Elsie Ward (cerise georgette), Ema Ward (blue georgette), Alice Betts (ring velvet), Audrey Betts (white Organdie), M. WAITARA SOCIAL NOTES.

Miss G. Field, Suva, is visiting Waitara as the guest of Mrs. A. Chadwick. Miss T. Boyd,* who was the guest of Mrs. L. Chatterton, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. C. W. Chadwick, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs. A. Chadwick. Mrs. R. Gilmore has returned from Auckland. The Methodist women’s auxiliary held an enjoyable afternoon in the Methodist hall on Wednesday. The room was decorated with bowls of arum lilies, luculia, and autumn foliage. Items were given by Mesdames R. Hawkins, New Plymouth (song), Anderson (pianoforte solo), Lockier (recitation), T. Carr (song), and Miss Cannell, and Mrs. R. Hawkins (duet). Competitions were won by Mesdames Smaill, Tate and Elliot. KAPUNI GIFT EVENING.

A kitchen tea was given by the Kapuni Young People’s Social Club to Miss Mavis Rusling, who is to be married shortly, on Wednesday. There was a large gathering of friends and relatives. In asking Miss Rusling to accept the many presents from those assembled, Mr. Revell wished . her happiness and prosperity. He thanked her for her help towards the social club and said they were losing one of their most valued and willing helpers. Mr. Charles Gudgeon replied on behalf of Miss Rusling. Among those present were: Mesdames G. Rusling, Broadmore, J. S. Crosbie, Barren, T. Collins, H. Whalen, W Wheeler, C. Wheeler, J. W. Cameron, Burton, J. Livings, O. Steiner, W. Welham, E. Broadmore, M. Wheeler, I. Death, L. Scott, M. Wheeler,, Mary Steiner and N. Wheeler.

p. and T. Social Club Dance. The New Plymouth Post and Telegraph Social Club’s monthly social in the Mon Desir on Tuesday night was an enjoyable gathering, about 50 couples being present. The Monte Carlo waltz dance was won by Mrs. Huggett and Miv*Holder. Mr. W. Jones was master of ceremonies and the music was provided by Boulton’s orchestra.
