OHURA RUGBY TRIAL

ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REUNIONGOOD PROGRESS REPORTED. The annual reunion of the Ohura branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Ohura, Mr. W. Sandison presiding over a fair attendance. A long toast list was honoured and the president in covering the activities of the association in general and the Ohura branch in particular reported good progress and instanced several cases of members which had been taken up, substantial benefits being obtained. Mr. Sandison emphasised the necessity for co-operation between the branches and the need for every returned soldier to join the association. It was only the

strength of the association which enabled men to obtain a hearing. Several new members had joined during the year and the association had also to mourn the loss of several valued old comrades. The toast list was: The King; Absent Comrades; Returned Soldiers’ Association; Kindred Associations, responded to by Mr. C. Friel and Taylor (Matiere); Navy and Air Forces, Mr. D, Willetts-—

Mr. Stuart-Moray; Army Nurses, Mr. C. Friel; Imperial Forces, Mr. Hunt —Mr. Stuart-Moray; South African Veterans, Mr. Taylor—Mr. Allen; the president,-'Mr. H. Reeve—Mr. N. Tunnicliffe; the ladies, Mr. Tunnicliffe; Australian Comrades, Mr. W. Fulcher. The toast list was interspersed with items, anecdotes and community singing of old wartime songs. ~
