COST OF WAGES RESTORATION. NO STATE HELP TO HOSPITALS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, May 1. Commenting on the attitude of the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board regarding the restoration of the first 10 per cent wages reduction, Sir Alexander Young, Minister of Health, said there was no power to prevent boards restoring wages but if they were restored over the amount of the Government’s wages restoration scale the extra cost would have to be borne by the ratepayers and would not be reflected in Government subsidy to boards.
