TAUMARUNUI STOCK SALE
HORSES IN DEMAND. (Special to Daily News). Taumarunui, April 30. At the Taumarunui stock sale to-day the entry comprised 700 sheep, 150 cattle, 30 horses and 30 pigs. Pigs, as usual at this time of year, were hard to quit and sheep sold at several shillings lower than they did at the last sale before the Easter holidays. Good prices were realised for the best horses offered, useful sorts making up to £36. The pigs were hard to quit, weaners making up to 8s and porkers up to 245. There was a large attendance of farmers and buyers were present from Te Kuiti, Ohura, Owhango and Pukekohe. Quotations were:— Pigs: Weaners, 5s to 8s; porkers, 22s to 245. Sheep: Fat ewes, 15s to 15s lOd; store wethers, 17s to 18s 3d; ewes (r.w.r.), 10s to Us 3d; fat lambs, 15s; ewe lambs, 14s; m.s. lambs, 6s 9d, 7s 7d, 9s to 12s. Cattle: Fat cows, £2 to £3 10s; boner cows, 14s to 19s; two-year-old P.A. steers, £3 10s; springing cows, £2; bulls, £l. Horses: Young half-draught geldings (all work), £lB, £26s 5d to £36; unbroken half-draught geldings, £l3 10s to £23; 3-year-old mares broken to chains, £l9 10s; aged mare in foal (all work), £l3 10s; hacks, £5, £7 10s to £lO 15s.
