ELECTION PROSPECTS
EGMONT LOCAL BODIES.
FEW CHANGES SEEM LIKELY.
There appears little likelihood of new candidates coming out for the Egmont County Council election. All the present members are expected to stand again, except Mr. Farquhar, who has Sighted his intention of retiring. In his place Mr. W. A. Sheat has been named as a possible nominee, and it is fully expected he will accede to the suggestion to contest the vacancy.
Two representatives are required to represent the county and town of Opunake on the Taranaki Hospital Board, and it is understood the present members are consenting to nomination. No other nominees have been mentioned so far.
Five representatives are required for the Opunake Power Board, and it is believed all the retiring members will again offer their services' and that an election is unlikely. Mr. D. Mourie has again been appointed Government nominee on the Opunake Harbour Board. The other members, of the board have indicated their willingness to remain on the board, as they feel they have a grasp of the position and can look after the interests of the ratepayers. Fresh aspirants for office are, therefore, not expected, and it is expected the present board will be returned unopposed.
