MANAIA
Mrs. A. J. R. Hastie, “Ngaio Grove,” gave an enjoyable party at her home on Thursday evening in honour of Miss Nancy Burke, who is shortly to be. married. Bridge and games were enjoyed. Bridge honours were won by Miss Maisie Armitage. Competitions were won by Miss N. Burke, Mrs. G. E. Ingram and Mr. Neil Mac Diarmid. To receive her guests Mrs. Hastie wore. a mustard georgette frock and matching coatee. Miss Burke chose blue silk marocain relieved with red. Before supper was served, Mr. Hastie asked Miss Burke to accept the numerous gifts and wished her every happiness in the future. Mr. E. T. Burke replied on his daughter’s behalf. Those present were Mesdames A. J. R. Hastie, E. T. Burke, G. Ingram, Misses Nancy Burke, M. Armitage, K. Long, C. Vine, M. Long, Mollie Burke, M. Ryan, Violet and Mavis Parker. Mrs. C. R. Davies has returned from an extended holiday in the South Island. Miss Doris Gadsby, Te Awamutu, who has been the guest of Miss M. Burke, is now visiting her sister, Mrs. L. G, W. Barr, Scott Road, Hawera. Mrs. McCullough is spending a holiday at Manaia.
