STRATFORD’S WIN

DEFEAT OF POWER BOARD.

BEERE’S GOOD BOWLING. Stratford defeated Power Board at .Hawera by 105 -runs to 94, some exceptionally good bowling by Beere being the reason. Stratford played out time m a second innings, scoring 63 for seven wickets. _ „ , Stratford batted first and a really good innings by F. Young was the main contribution to the somewhat moderate score. Young hit seven fours and treated all the bowlers with little respect. Walker and Barlow put on 34 for the first wicket and Young and Snell 40 for the fourth wicket. Beyond them, the batting slumped considerably and there were six “ducks.” Crotty got among the tail-enders in devastating style and Geary bowled well. Hughes and Sargeson both batted well for Power Board, but apart from them and Geary and Lendrum, the batting was mediocre and a good chance of passing Stratford’s total was lost. Hughes and Sargeson put on 29 for the sixth wicket. Details areirSTRATFORD. First Innings.
