SOFFE CUP MATCHES LEADERS REMAIN UNBEATEN. WAITARA HAS FIRST WIN. Under ideal conditions the fifth round of the North Taranaki Soffe Cup tennis competition was played on Saturday. Playing on its own courts, Waitara did better than some had expected and secured its first win by beating Fitzroy in convincing style. New Plymouth and Waiwaka. by defeating Pukekura Park and Rotokare respectively, continued their Unbeaten record. WAIWAKA UNDEFEATED. ROTOKARE EASILY BEATEN. Waiwaka held the advantage in all departments but the men’s doubles and accounted for Rotokare on the Waiwaka courts by 18 sets to 6. Rotokare took the second and third games in the men’s singles but was able to win only one of the women’s singles. The top Waiwaka pair won in the men’s doubles, Rotokare taking the other two matches. The women’s doubles and combined doubles were won in all but one case by Waiwaka. NEW PLYMOUTH WINS. ALL ROUND SUPERIORITY. New Plymouth continued its unbeaten record when, playing on its own courts, it inflicted defeat on Pukekura Park to the tune of 18 sets to. 6.
