' March brings another acceptable issue of the Railways Magazine, which continues to encourage the country’s talented writers of prose and verse to offer their best. Mr. James Cowan’s famous New Zealander this time is the late Professor J. Macmillan Brown. In “Railways All Ways,” Mr. Ken Alexander supplies many merry quips. Mr. O. N. Gillespie claims truth for the heading of his brightly-written article, "Trentham, the World’s Best Racecourse,” Mr. G. G. Stewart introduces New Zealanders to some thrilling glimpses of their country. “Playboy” reveals the admirable sporting side of Mr. R. W. McVilly, formerly general manager of New Zealand Railways. “Call of Flock- House” sets out the attractive openings for New Zealand returned soldiers’ sons in qualifying for satisfactory life on the land. Regular features include “Wisdom of the Maori,” “Pictures of New Zealand Life,” “Among the Books” and “Women’s Section.” The management has decided to extend the size to 64 pages, beginning with the April issue.
