PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP. SOME EXCELLENT TIMES RECORDED By Telegraph—Press Association, r , , Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland amateur athletic championships were decided to-day oh the Domain. The weather was overcast and the wind was against the best times, but the track was in good order. Some excellent performances were registered. W. S. - Bainbridge was outstanding, winning the 100 yards, furlong and quarter mile all in good times. The results are:— Three miles walk: Cameron 1, McCarthy 2, May 3. Won by 100 yards. Time, 25 l-ss. ' ' . Women’s broad jump: Miss M. Mitchell (Dargaville) 1, Miss J. Armour 2, Miss G. Tremain (Dargaville) 3. Distance sft Win, which is to be applied for as a New Zealand record. 120 yards hurdles: Benham 1, Finlayson 2, Speake (Cambridge) 3. Won by a yard. Time, 16 3-ss. 880 yards: Johnston 1, Lindsay (Hamilton) 2, Watt 3. Won by two yards after a great contest. Time, Im 58 1-55.; 80 yards women’s hurdles: Miss Scouller 1, Miss Mullins 2. Miss Tremain 3. Won by four yards. Time, 14 2-ss. 100 yards: Bainbridge 1, Elliott 2, Roberts 3. Elliott was in front-a chain from the tape but Bainbridge won handsomely. Time, 10 l-ss. . ’ Broad jump: Brainsby 1, Prendergast 2, Spittai and Calvert equal 3. Distance, 22ft lin. 220 yards hurdles: Finlayson 1, Benham 2, Parsons 3. Won by four yards. Time, 25 3-ss, a New Zealand record. Callnan did not start in the final owing to his not being a resident in the province. High jump: Hackett 1, Cruickshank 2. Height, 6ft Olin. % 50 yards women’s: Mrs. Thomas 1, Miss McConnell 2, Miss Campbell 3. Won by a foot. Time, 6 l-ss. One mile: Cooper 1, F. E. Watt 2, Francis 3. Won by 40 yards. Time, 4m 27 4-ss. One mile walk: Cameron 1, McCarthy 2, Lynndale 3. Won by ten yards. Time, 7m 11 2-ss. Throwing the javelin, women’s: Mrs. D. Harris 1, Miss Bouvaird 2, Miss Mitchell 3.
