MAORI TRIES TO RESCUE STOCK. NORTH AUCKLAND TRAGEDY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Whangarei, Feb. 23. Geddes Maunsell, aged 38, a native married, with six children, was drowned at Nukutawhiti yesterday afternoon when trying to rescue stock from a flooded paddock on his own farm. He got into a torrent ten feet deep and disappeared. The body was recovered this morning.
