FIRST STEPS IN GREAT BRITAIN. COMMITTEE ABOUT TO REPORT. British Wireless. Rugby, Jan. 14. A committee appointed by the Post-masters-General, Sir Kingsley Wood, to consider the development of television and advise him under what conditions any public service television should be established ’in Britain, has practically completed its task, and in a speech at Bath this evening Sir Kingsley said he expected its report within the next few He added that he would study the committee’s report with every desire to encourage . develojynent of this latest marvel of scientific achievement. No doubt much of the preparatory work would have to be done before, a public television service, however limited in scope, could be started, but if, as he hoped, the committee had been able to recommend a definite scheme for. the introduction of a broadcast television service on lines which the Government could approve they might look forward to the first steps being taken during 1935 towards the realisation of such a scheme.
