HOSPITAL STAFF
NEW MATRON AT PATEA. MEETING OF THE BOARD HELD. The appointment of Sister A. Harris, formerly of Hawera, and now a member of the staff, as matron of the Patea hospital in succession to Miss Kelly, the present matron, whose term will expire on February 28, was made, subject to the approval of the Department of Health, at yesterday’s meeting of the Patea Hospital Board. It was decided to appoint Nurse Nichol to the position of sister rendered vacant by Sister Harris’ promotion, and to appoint Nurse Drayton, a fully qualified nurse . present relieving at the hospital, as senior staff nurse. Nurse Gimblett is to leave for Palmerston North and Nurse Soundy has resigned. The medical superintendent, Dr. W. Simmons, reported that on December 1 there were 30 patients (15 men and 15 women) in the institution. Thirty-three patients (15 men and 18 women) were admitted, and 38 (19 men and 19 women) were discharged. One man died, leaving 24 patients (10 men and 14 women) in the hospital at the end of the month. Messrs. Watt and Watkins were appointed a visiting committee. Those present were Messrs. C. R. Honeyfield (chairman), A. T. Christensen, R. J. Watt, J. Lupton, R. G. Scown, W. H. Watkins, W. Back and C. E. Johnston.
