BAIL NOT ALLOWED
REMAND ON SERIOUS CHARGES. NEV/ PLYMOUTH MAN CHARGED. On two charges of wilful exposure a New Plymouth man aged 31, whose name was suppressed, was remanded till Monday at the New Plymouth Police Court yesterday. Mr. R. W. D. Robertson J.P, refused to allow bail, although, defendant’s father offered to provide a surety. Detective A. B. Meiklejohn, who prosecuted, stated that at least 12 more charges were pending. The charges alleged two offences, one in Pukekura Park, New Plymouth on July 26 and the other in Pendarves Street on November 19. Detective Meiklejohn in asking for a remand said the man had been arrested only on Wednesday night. There were at least 12 more charges pending. He did not object to bail consistent with the gravity of the The man had been at New Plymouth for 20 months and his father was in a small way of business, said the detective. The father asked that his sons name be SU £ e man's father offered to provide a bond, and said he was willing to take the responsibility for his son. Mr. Robertson said it was not the father’s responsibility. He referred to the possibility that if the charges were to be proved there was in the meantime a danger of repetition if bail were allowed. , . , „<■ The prisoner said he was innocent of the charges against him.
