GIFTS TO NEW ZEALAND CLUB.

At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Aero Club, 'Lord Bledisloe announced that, “With a view to stimulating keenness among newly-trained pilots to excel in the science and art of aviation, with special regard to safety based upon knowledge and prudence,” he and Lady Bledisloe were making the club a Christmas gift of a silver trophy. The trophy, which is to be known as the Bledisloe Aviation Trophy, will be competed for by pilots of the various aero clubs. Candidates nominated by the clubs in each island wili carry out tests in airmanship, navigation and landing prescribed at an official pageant in their respective islands? The winners of each' island competition will then meet for the final. The trophy will be held by the club nominating the winning competitor for a year. Another trophy has been presented to the club by Messrs. Walker and .Hall, Ltd., in honour of the Duke of Gloucester’s visit. It will be known as the Gloucester Trophy, and the club decided to allocate it for competition between the professional pilots or the Dominion. Officers of the New Zealand Aero Club were elected as follows: President, Mr. G. M. Spence, Blenheim; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. Spencer Mason, Auckland, and C. C. Weinstein, Wellington.
