NOT STRICT ENOUGH
REGULATION OF PLUMBING. POSITION AT NEW PLYMOUTH. I Apparently the New Plymouth BorCouncil has not been sufficiently stirict in enforcing certain by-laws for th? regulation of plumbers’ work within th< ? borough. At last night’s council meeting a report was tabled by the works committee recording an interview between Dr. Shore, assistant DirectorGetieral of Health, Dr. M. Champtaloup, district health officer, and Inspector Swijideils, a representative of the Health Department, with the Mayor (Mr. E. R. C. pilmour), the town clerk and the borcjugh inspector. Dij. Shore, stated the report, had intimated that the council was not enforcing ihe by-laws which required all registered plumbers carrying on work in the thorough to obtain a license from the council—nor was it enforcing the by-laws which required licensed plumbers to take out a separate permit for plumbing work in buildings, the practice apparently being to issue a permit to the building contractor for all the work involved in the erection of the building. Dr. Shore tasked for an assurance that the regulations would be enforced in future, and assurance was given,
