OAONUI DISTRICT NEWS
The Rahotu Methodist Ladies’ Guild held a pleasant function in the supperroom of the Oaonui Hall on Wednesday in the form of a gift afternoon. The proceeds were in aid of the Rahotu Mayoral candidate, Mr. Hamil. Afternoon' tea was served by a committeg headed by Mrs. Andrews. Competitions were won by Miss Lummis and Mrs.
'Hamil. A peanut race, won by Mrs. Andrews, caused a lot of amusement. Mrs.' Hamil gave recitations,, and Miss A. Pentelow guitar solos. Mrs. Andrews thanked those present for their attendance and Mrs. W. Pentelow, sen., for a donation to pay for the hire of the hall. Mr. G. Holmes is a patient in the New Plymouth Hospital. Mrs. F. J. Young and family have returned from Oakura. Mr. Ross ToynO has returned to Eketahuna. Mr. and Mrs. Toyne have left Oaonui en route for England. Miss Margaret Bosworth has returned after spending a few days with Miss Rawle and Mrs. M. J. Armstrong,' New Plymouth.
