Mesdames George Havard, Masterton, and W. Andrews, Kelbum, Wellington, will arrive this week on a visit to Mrs. Mulholland. Mrs. Rasmussen, who lias been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Ashton, Norfolk Road, left on Tuesday for her home at Mauriceville. Mrs. R. Brown entertained at her home on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Kaye, Durham Road, well be the guest of her sister, Mrs. Sydney Burton, Tongaporutu. Mrs. J. M. McLean has returned from Wellington and a motor tour of the North Island. Miss Hawker, New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. Byrne, Norfolk Road. Mesdames Coles and Bartram will be the guests of Mrs. C. Nicholls for Easter. Mrs. Faris was “at home” to a few friends on Wednesday afternoon. Miss Mary Nutting has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Mary McLean will leave for Wellington on Thursday. Miss Sadie Byrne, Rugby Road, will be the guest of Mrs. Hickson, Ngamotu beach. Mrs. L. Brown, Durham Road, will visit Mrs. Sydney Burton, Tongaporutu, for Easter. Miss Beryl Egarr, New Plymouth, will visit her home, Mountain Road, for Easter. Mrs. Bums left for a trip to Auckland on Wednesday night. Mrs. Leech and Miss Leech will leave on Friday night to spend Easter at Auckland with Mrs. Ross. Mrs. L. Judd has returned home from Raetahi. Mrs. H. Winter has taken a cottage at Ngamotu beach for Easter. Miss Mary McAllum has returned after spending several weeks at Wellington, Palmerston North and Masterton. Mrs. T. Lindsay with her family is motoring to Waitomo for Easter. Mrs. Twist entertained at her home on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Mrs. Larsen, Otaki, is the guest of Mts. R. J. Smith, Norfolk Road. Mrs. Timms, Christchurch, is visiting her son at Inglewood. The New Plymouth Bank of New South Wales tennis team played Stratford and Inglewood combined on Saturday at the Inglewood courts, when Mrs. A. Grant was hostess for the visitors and wives. Mrs. Fraser will accompany Mrs. Simpson and her daughter to Auckland this week as they leave on their return to England after spending several months in New Zealand. An Inglewood group meeting was held on Tuesday afternoon in the parish hall, when Miss Clarice Douglas, New Plymouth, gave an interesting talk on bird and forest life of New Zealand. Mesdames Nodder, Buchanan, Jemieson and A. Grant sang songs and the last two gave a duet which were enjoyed. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the group committee. Some of the residents of Norfolk Road formed a committee to celebrate the coming of age of Miss Annie Huzziff with a euchre party and dance in the Norfolk Road school on Friday. A jolly evening was spent by a large number of guests. Miss Huzziff received several handsome presents. Mr. Harold Humphries supplied the music and a delicious supper was served. The Taranaki Federation executive committee met on Monday afternoon, when Mrs. Kaye, president, on behalf of the members made a presentation to Mrs. L. Brown and Miss E. Burkhart, treasurer and secretary respectively. Mrs. Brown received a rose bowl and Miss Burkhart a silver table napkin ring engraved with the institute badge and motto, “For Home and Country.”
