Pearl Mary, fifth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sangster, Awatuna, to Clarance Alfred,, youngest son of Mr. and' Mrs. R. G. Gray, Awatuna. z CROQUET CLUB BRIDGE PARTY. A pleasant bridge party was held at Mrs. P. J. H. White’s residence on Thursday in aid of the funds of the New Plymouth Croquet .Club. In spite of the rain there were over seventy ladies present and all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Mrs. Maxwell won the prize for the highest score and Mrs. Gentles for the hidden number. STRATFORD ITEMS. Misses 0. and Z. Masters returned from a visit to Wellington on Friday night.. Miss Ferron is on a holiday visit to Stratford and is the guest of Mrs. Whitworth.
Miss E. Moon has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Mrs. S. Macalister spent the week-end at Wellington as the guest of her mother, Mrs. Smith.
Mrs. .Morris has returned from a visit to New Plymouth, where she was the guest of Mrs, Shaw. Miss J. Brem'ner, who has been spending a holiday with her sister at Taumarunui, returned on Sunday.
Miss Nora Spence is spending a few days at Auckland with her people. Miss D. Moore, Stratford, will leave the Stratford school shortly to take up a position at Point Chevalier, Auckland.
Mrs. F. P. Uniacke was a visitor to Wellington and was the guest of her brother for a few days. Mrs. E. H. Young, who spent a few days at Wellington, has returned. Miss Maisie Smart was a visitor to Wellington for the week-end. Mrs. F. Melhuish, Palmerston North,, is the guest of Mrs. H. Wickham. Mrs. Beauchamp and Mrs. Maguire, who have been the guests of Mrs. P. O’Brien, Finnerty Road, have returned to Wellington. The Stratford club held its annual ladies’ night o» Friday, when there was a good attendance. Mrs. Graham was hostess and received the guests, amongst whom were Mesdames Rutherfurd, J. Sullivan, Irwin, Richards, R. Curtis, Penn (Inglewood), A. Yarndley, Guthrie, Green, J. Lyons, B. Armstrong, Rawles, Jeffries, ■ Harrison (Eltham), Misses M. Porrit, F. Lovell, H. Penn, M. Malone, M. Curd, C. Uniacke, T. Guthrie and Irwin. The rooms were decorated with apple blossom and camelias. Waite’s orchestra supplied music. OHURA PERSONAL ITEMS. Miss Jean Turnbull entertained at tea on Friday evening. Miss Gladys Ci-uickshank (Stratford) is the guest of Mrs. Howie, Ohura.
