COMPILING INFORMATION.

GISBORNE-WAIKOKOPU SECTION.

Gisborne, Sept. 23.

Possibly in anticipation of requests (or information. from Parliamentary sources as well as from the district railway committee in Poverty Bay, the Minister of Public Works has directed the preparation' by the Gisborne office of his department of a comprehensive file respecting the Waikokopu-Gisbome section of the East Coast railway. The report does not represent an economic survey, it is understood, but is te be a statement of the amount of work already carried out on the line, a list of the plant and material still located bn railway works between Gisborne and Waikokopu and a complete get of plans relating to the section under review.
