POSITION AT NEW PLYMOUTH. SCARCITY OF GOOD HOUSES. A keen demand for modern dwellings exists at New Plymouth, according to inquiries in the town yesterday. It is understood purchasers are offering for houses of good type and situation. People requiring dwellings are looking for modem houses containing every convenience. Not only has the desire to 'purchase property been keener in the past three months than for several years, but there is also a steady demand for good rented houses. According to one intending buyer, good houses are scarce. He had been shown many older buildings that were unsuitable for modem requirements, but expressed the' opinion that good places were not offering. It is also understood that modem houses are difficult to find for renting.
