FINE. COLD WEATHER
ANTI-CYCLONE APPROACHING.

Tlie weather will be mainly fair to fine in western districts and elsewhere changeable, with scattered showers, but shortly becoming fine again generally. Cold temperatures with inland frosts may be expected. An intense anti-cyclone is advancing on to New Zealand, its centre to-day being over Tasmania. Southerly winds are probable, strong and squally along the east coast and about Cook Strait but decreasing, and otherwise moderate. Seas will be rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, and elsewhere moderate.

Melbourne, September 25:—Arrived: Wainui, from Bluff; Huia, from Auckland.
Lyttelton, Sept. 25:—Sailed: Holmglen, 5.15 p.m., for Wellington; Maori, 8 p.m., for Wellington.
